What’s the Difference Between Heatic 2 and Heatic 2+?

Heatic 2 and Heatic 2+ share the same core thermal sensing technology - both use low resolution thermal array to detect people and track movement, and both have the same field of view (FOV) and coverage.
However, they differ in power options, battery performance, and sensing modalities, making each model suitable for different deployment needs.

Heatic 2 supports two installation types:

• Wired (DC Power) via Heatic Flex adapter

• Battery-powered configuration

This flexibility makes Heatic 2 ideal for environments where access to a power outlet is available - or where you prefer a fully wireless setup.

Heatic 2+ – Battery-Only, Optimized for Longevity

Heatic 2+ is a battery-powered sensor designed specifically for long-term, maintenance-light deployments.
The dual D-cell battery design supports significantly extended runtime.

Battery Life

Heatic 2

Battery life varies depending on mode and frame rate, and is typically shorter compared to Heatic 2+ due to its single battery design.

Heatic 2+

Heatic 2+ is engineered for extra-long battery life.
The combination of dual D-cells and the PIR-based power management system allows it to intelligently drop to low-power states when no movement is detected—greatly extending overall life in real deployments.

Sensing Modalities

Heatic 2

• Uses thermopile sensing only

• Detects people movement and occupancy patterns via thermal signatures

Heatic 2+

Includes two sensing modalities:

• Thermopile Sensor: same as Heatic 2

• PIR Sensor: detects motion and allows the sensor to switch between low-power (Standby) and high-power (Tracking) states

  • Enables better battery life

  • Helps support advanced features such as PIR Zeroing for drift correction

This additional sensing modality gives Heatic 2+ greater efficiency and more robust presence detection behavior.

Which One Should I Choose?

Choose Heatic 2 if:

• You need wired power or mixed wired/wireless flexibility

• Battery swaps are acceptable based on usage patterns

• Sensing requirements are straightforward

Choose Heatic 2+ if:

• You want maximum battery life with minimal maintenance

• You need enhanced sensing via PIR

• You're deploying in rooms where drift correction or real-time empty-room calibration (PIR Zeroing) is beneficial
