Hive capacity is based on the total frame-rate load, not a fixed number of sensors.
Best-practice capacity
A Hive should stay under ~30 frames per second (FPS) for stable real-time performance.
(While the wireless protocol can support more in theory, 30 FPS is the recommended practical limit.)
Typical sensor frame rates:
Traffic sensors: ~8 FPS
Activity/Presence sensors: ~3 FPS
This means a Hive can generally support:
Up to 3 Traffic sensors, or
Up to 9 Presence sensors, or
Any mix that keeps the total below ~30 FPS
Real-world conditions may vary
Factors like sensor-to-Hive distance, obstructions, people density, and local Wi-Fi interference can impact stability.
These numbers are technical guidelines—final ratios should always be validated during Deployment QA.
