PIR (Passive Infrared) sensors:
Detect only motion.
Output is typically binary: motion / no motion.
Cannot distinguish how many people are present, their positions, or behavior.
Heatic sensors:
Capture low-resolution thermal images.
Can detect:
Presence
Number of people
Approximate location
Movement patterns
Certain postures or behaviors (e.g., lying vs standing)
This makes Heatic sensors suitable for more complex spatial analytics than PIR (e.g., people counting, zoning, behavior understanding).
