How are Heatic sensors different from PIR sensors?

PIR (Passive Infrared) sensors:

  • Detect only motion.

  • Output is typically binary: motion / no motion.

  • Cannot distinguish how many people are present, their positions, or behavior.

Heatic sensors:

  • Capture low-resolution thermal images.

  • Can detect:

    • Presence

    • Number of people

    • Approximate location

    • Movement patterns

    • Certain postures or behaviors (e.g., lying vs standing)

This makes Heatic sensors suitable for more complex spatial analytics than PIR (e.g., people counting, zoning, behavior understanding).
