This article provides guidance for Butlr’s direct customers and integration partners on the information required to generate a project scope (device locations and counts) and pricing estimate for deployment projects.
Minimum Required Information
The following are the bare minimum materials needed for Butlr to create a rough scope and pricing estimate. Actual deployment needs may change based on site conditions. Providing more details will always result in a more accurate estimate.
Floor plans (ideally with reflected ceiling plans, RCPs) for the areas to be monitored
Ceiling heights
Intended use cases (e.g., floor traffic monitoring, seat finding, meeting/booth optimization, energy/CO₂ studies, utilization tracking, etc.)
Target installation and go-live dates
Additional Recommended Information
In many cases, a site walk is the best way to gather accurate details (measurements, photos, network checks). Contact Butlr if you’d like our team to conduct a site walk (additional service fees may apply).
Physical Space
Ceiling height (measure with laser; note min/max if uneven)
Ceiling type (T-bar/grid, slab, wood, etc.)
Ceiling rails material (confirm metal with a magnet)
Obstacles and heat sources (e.g., HVAC diffusers, large lights, skylights, glass)
Network & Power
Wi-Fi SSID/Password (or site Wi-Fi/guest VLAN)
Candidate Hive (gateway) locations (must be secure, powered, and free of major metal obstructions)
LTE/Cellular signal quality (run a speed test)
Photos & Documents
Wide shots of each monitored zone (ideally N/E/S/W views)
Ceiling close-ups (tiles, rails, fixtures)
Photos of proposed Hive locations (include distance to power source)
Latest floor and ceiling plan files
File Naming Convention
To streamline documentation, use this naming format for all photos and files:
<Site>_<Floor/Zone>_<View>_<YYYYMMDD>.jpg
Example: AlphaHQ_18F_Cafeteria_Wide_20250827.jpg
Site Survey Template
