Setting Up Your Virtual Space in Butlr Studio

Virtual Space Creation

  1. Visit https://app.butlr.io/
  2. Log in to Studio using the credentials provided by your Butlr representative.
  3. Follow the on-screen prompts to create a floor and rename it.
  4. In the top-right corner, click the “View” toggle and switch to “Edit” mode.
  5. Upload your floor plan:
    • A floor plan serves as a reference for room sizes and layout.
    • This makes it easier to design your space and plan device placement.
  6. Add rooms and zones that reflect the physical layout:
    • Click “Add Room” to place a virtual room on the canvas.
    • Rename the room in the Room Information Panel; the new name will appear along the top room border.
    • Add all rooms that will be monitored using Heatic sensors.
    • Tip: Do not add rooms that won't have Heatic sensors—these will show up as blank pages on the Butlr Dashboard.
  7. Save the space once all rooms are added and named.

Device Placement Planning

Use Butlr Studio to plan sensor locations before any physical installation.

  1. In the toolbar, click the “Add Sensors” icon to place a sensor placeholder on the canvas.
  2. In the Sensor Information Panel, define key properties (optional but recommended):
    • Sensor Mode
    • Mount Type
    • Installation Height → This automatically updates the sensor's coverage area on the canvas.
    • ⚠️ The maximum installation height for Heatic 2 and 2+ is 10.5 ft (3.2 meters). If your ceiling is higher, consider using drop rods. Learn more: [Heatic 1 & Heatic 2] Mounting Guide | [Heatic 2+] Mounting Guide
  3. Drag sensor placeholders to your desired locations:
  4. Avoid or minimize overlap between sensor coverage areas whenever possible.
  5. Optimize for maximum coverage based on the number of devices you have or plan to order.
  6. Use the right panel to Delete or Rotate a sensor placeholder as needed.image.webp
