If your Hive gateway uses cellular connectivity, you may occasionally need to replace the SIM card (for example when switching carriers or activating a new plan). Follow the steps below to safely replace the SIM.
Before You Start
Ensure the Hive device is powered off or disconnected from power.
Have the replacement SIM card ready.
No special tools are required.
Step 1 — Open the SIM Access Cover
Locate the SIM access panel on the side of the Hive device.
Pinch the two sides of the cover.
Pull the cover outward to remove it from the device.
The SIM slot will now be visible inside the compartment.
Step 2 — Remove the Existing SIM
Gently pull the current SIM card out of the slot.
Set it aside if it will be reused later.
Step 3 — Insert the New SIM
Align the new SIM card with the slot (matching the orientation of the previous SIM).
Slide the SIM card fully into the slot until it is securely seated.
Step 4 — Close the Cover
Reinsert the SIM access cover.
Press it back into place until it clicks securely.
Step 5 — Restore Power
Reconnect power to the Hive device.
The gateway will automatically attempt to connect using the new SIM card.
✅ Tip: After replacing the SIM, allow a few minutes for the Hive to reconnect to the cellular network.
