Gen-2 Hive (GWDSRSCL2) Release Notes

The Hive (Cellular) is Butlr’s gateway designed to provide robust, secure, and easy-to-deploy connectivity for Heatic sensors. This release introduces major improvements to network reliability, device capacity, and installation flexibility.

 

What's New

Reliable Cellular Connectivity

  • Built-in 4G LTE modem with broad band support ensures stable internet access across regions.

  • Single IoT SIM slot with certified SIM provider for optimal provisioning.

  • Works in environments without site Wi-Fi or Ethernet.

Expanded Mounting Options

  • Multiple mounting methods now supported:

    • Command Strips

    • Screws (keyhole mount)

    • Magnetic mounts (for metal surfaces)

  • Designed for walls, ceilings, desks, and flexible locations.

Updated Configuration Tools

  • Configurable through the Butlr Web App.

  • Command Line Interface available for advanced installers.

  • No touchscreen—reducing points of failure.

OTA Firmware Updates

Compatibility

  • Works with Heatic 1, Heatic 2, and Heatic 2+ sensors.

 

Performance Recommendations

  • Maintain < 30 ft (10 m) between Hive and sensors for best mesh performance.

  • Avoid connecting more than 10 sensors per Hive.

  • When deploying multiple Hives, space them a few meters apart to minimize radio interference.

 

Known Limitations

  • Proxy servers are not supported.

  • Indoor-only deployment.

  • Cellular performance may vary by carrier and building construction.
