How to Reset a Device’s Network ID

Before getting started, we recommend reviewing Understanding MAC Address, Network ID, Device Pairing, and Grouping to better understand what a Network ID is and how it functions in the Butlr system.

If you need to reset the Network ID of a Hive or Sensor, follow the instructions below. Ensure the devices are powered on before proceeding.

Resetting via Butlr Workbench

Note: Hives do not have a physical reset button. You must use Butlr Workbench to reset a Hive’s Network ID.

  1. Go to http://build.butlr.io/
  2. Follow the on-screen instructions to reset the Network ID of your Sensor or Hive.

Hard Resetting a Sensor’s Network ID

  1. Ensure the sensor’s batteries are properly installed.
  2. Make sure the sensor is switched on. The LED should begin flashing, learn more about Understanding LED Indicators.
  3. Check the LED color:
    • If it flashes yellow, the sensor is already set to the default Network ID.
    • If it flashes blue, press and hold the reset button until the LED changes to yellow. This indicates a successful reset to the default Network ID.
