Pairing Sensors to Hive Using the Built-In Screen

This guide applies to the Butlr Hive model GWDSRKWF, which features an integrated LCD screen. Follow the steps below to pair your Heatic Wireless Sensors to Hive using the on-screen interface.

Before You Begin

Ensure the Hive is powered on and the antenna is securely attached before using the Hive screen. Note: The Hive’s touchscreen will automatically shut down 30 minutes after powering on. Once it turns off, it cannot be reactivated unless you perform a hard reset by unplugging and reconnecting the power.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Group the sensors you wish to pair with the Hive.
  2. Turn on each sensor using the power switch on the front. The sensor will enter pairing mode automatically, indicated by a blinking yellow LED.
    • If a sensor is not blinking yellow, it’s not in pairing mode. Use a small tool (Heatic 2) or your finger (Heatic 2+) to press the reset button.
  3. On the Hive screen, tap the left half of the main menu to open the Sensor List.
  4. Tap “+ Pair” in the upper-right corner of the screen.
  5. Tap “Okay”, then tap “Next” on the following screen to begin scanning for sensors.
  6. Wait a few minutes while the Hive searches for sensors.
  7. When the sensor list appears, verify that the MAC addresses match those printed on the back of your sensors.
  8. Tap “Next” once all sensors are found to add them to the Hive’s network. This may take a few minutes.
  9. After pairing is complete, tap “Done” to return to the Hive’s home screen.
  10. All sensors (new and previously connected) will now reconnect to the Hive. This may take a few minutes.
  11. During reconnection, the sensor’s LED will blink blue while searching, then turn green for 3 seconds upon successful connection, and finally turn off.
  12. You can verify the number of connected sensors on the Hive display.

FAQ

What if my sensor was previously paired but no longer appears in the Hive UI or Dashboard?

  • The sensor may have lost its connection to the Hive. If the LED is blinking blue, it’s searching for a connection.
  • Try toggling the power switch off and on again to reset the pairing.
