Types of Mounts
|Ceiling Mount||Wall Mount||Adjustable Mount||Magnetic Add-On||Hanging Rod|
There are 5 types of mounting fixtures:
- Ceiling Mount (included in Starter Kit)
- Wall Mount (included in Starter Kit)
- Adjustable Mount (not included in Starter Kit, contact Butlr to order)
- Magnetic Add-on (included in Starter Kit)
- Hanging Rod (not included in Starter Kit, contact Butlr to order)
Magnetic Add-on can not work alone, need to be assembled with other standard mount to attach to magnetic surfaces (steel, iron, etc.)
Standard ceiling mounting for drywall, concrete, wood surfaces.
Standard wall mounting for drywall, concrete, wood surfaces. Design with a fixed angle, designed for common headcount use cases
Please consult Butlr support team before using adjustable mount. Make sure sensor orientation matches the arrow in Butlr Studio
For small angle adjustment (e.g adjust door line, cover narrow corridor etc.)
Door frame mount (install above or under the door frame when there is obstacle under the sensor)
Magnetic is compatible with Ceiling Mount, Wall Mount and Adjustable Mount. Base on your need, choose either vertical assembly or horizontal assembly.
Magnetic Ceiling Mount
Attach directly to magnetic surfaces (steel, iron, etc) or use zip tie to tight sensor units to tubes, grid ceiling etc.
Magnetic Wall Mount
Attach directly to magnetic surfaces (steel, iron, etc) or use zip tie to tight sensor units to tubes, racks etc.
Magnetic Adjustable Mount
Attach directly to magnetic surfaces (steel, iron, etc), adjust mounting angle
For ceiling above 10.5 feet (3.2m) and no other fixture/wall near by
- Length range options:
- for customization, contact Butlr
Length adjustment: Rotate the lower tube anti-clockwise to loose the tube, then grab the lower tube to pull it more inside or out. After getting the desired length, rotate the tube clockwise to fix it.
- Use cases
Hanging rod needs to be fixed to ceiling or beams by using wall screws, wire ropes or M4 U-Bolt. Please contact Butlr for more information.
Mount on concrete, brick, stone, drywall: Use wall screws (M4) and anchors to secure the mounts into the surface.
Wood: Use the screws (M4) and drill directly into the surface.
Ceiling tile, T-grid ceiling, metal beams or other magnetic surfaces: Attach Magnetic Ceiling/Wall/Adjustable Mount directly to the surfaces
Other surfaces (non-magnetic, cannot be drilled):

Choose the correct adhesive for different types of mounts
Ceiling Mount Adhesive Wall/Adjustable Mount Adhesive
Stick the adhesive to the back of the mount. Take care to put the adhesive on the correct side of the mount, as shown below.

Wipe the surface with a clean cloth. Ensure that it is clean and free of dust and debris.
Peel off the protective layer of the tape, then stick mount to the surface, press and hold for 20-30 seconds.
Attach the sensor to the mount.
Headcount Sensor Mounting
Sensor should be installed above the center of your entrance. If the entrance has double doors, place the sensor in the middle of the two doors.
Sensor installation more than 9 feet (2.8 meters) above the ground is no recommended. Refer to table below to determine the height.
|Sensor Height (h)||Effective Coverage Width (w)|
|2.8 m (110.2 in)||2.2 m (86 in)|
|2.6 m (102.4 in)||2.0 m (78 in)|
|2.4 m (94.5 in)||1.6 m (63 in)|
|2.2 m (86.6 in)||1.4 m (56 in)|
|2.0 m (78.7 in)||1.3 m (52 in)|
Activity Sensor Mounting
We recommend to use ceiling mount for activity monitoring. For ceiling over xx ft (3.2m), use the hanging rod to low the sensor from the ceiling. Or use a wall mount installed below xx ft (3.2m) as an alternative.
Smartly use magnetic add-on to install sensors on fixtures, lightings etc.
